Open Casting Call
For Genesis Saga Audiobook

"Walking the Halls of Imagination"

Be A Part of The Adventure

Hey everyone!

I'm turning the Genesis Saga into a full-cast audiobook and I want YOU to be one of them.

This is your opportunity to step into my world, claim a character, and turn words on the page into something vivid, powerful, and unforgettable.

You do not need any voice acting experience, but you will need to sell the emotion of the scene and make the character feel real.

And don’t worry about needing to perform real-world accents. The voices in this series use fictional dialects unique to the world of Genesis. As long as you can read the phonetically written dialogue naturally and deliver it with conviction, you’re exactly the right person for this.

Scroll down to see the dialect examples and how to submit your audition!

About this Project

I’m taking the Genesis Oblivion Saga and bringing it to life as a full-cast audiobook. Not a single narrator reading the story, (though, I will be voicing the narration of the book) but a living, breathing production where every character has a voice of their own.

For those of you who have read my story, you already know these characters live and breathe on the page. They think, they struggle, they clash, they carry weight. Some stand at the center of the story. Others pass through for only a moment. But every one of them matters, and every one of them deserves a voice that makes them real.

That’s where you come in.

I’m building a cast of voices to carry this story, people who can step into a role, feel what the character feels, and deliver it in a way that makes it real for the listener. This is not about having the “perfect voice.” It’s about performance, presence, and the ability to bring a moment to life.

There are roles across a wide range of ages, tones, and personalities. Some demand strength. Some demand restraint. But all demand you go all in.

For those of you who have never voice acted before, or have very little experience, take a breath. You’re fine. I’ve directed voice actors at every level, from seasoned professionals to amateurs stepping behind a microphone for the very first time. If you have the voice and the performance I’m looking for, I’ll work with you to shape that into something you'll be proud of.

If you’ve ever wanted to be part of something like this, to take a character off the page and give them breath, this is your chance.

Audition Instructions

I’ve tried to make this as simple and straightforward as possible.

For this audition, I just want to hear your voice.

Below, you’ll find the three main dialects used in the world of Genesis. Each one includes a sample scene. You’re welcome to audition for one, two, or all three.

Pick a dialect that interests you, download the sample, and take a few minutes to read through it. Pay attention to what’s happening in the scene. What is the character feeling? What’s driving the moment?

I’ve also provided recordings of myself performing each sample. Listen to them. Not to copy, but to understand the rhythm, the dialect, and the emotional weight behind the words.

Then record your version.

Right now, I’m not looking for studio-quality audio. I’m not judging your microphone, your setup, or your editing skills. If you’re cast, I’ll walk you through exactly how to record moving forward. Keep it simple. Use whatever you have. Your phone, your laptop, a basic mic. It doesn’t matter. What matters is this:

But make me believe the character.

When you’re ready, email your audition to:
auditions@starvingwriterstudio.com

In the Subject Line: Genesis Audiobook Audition.

Submissions are open through April 30th.

That’s it.

I’m looking forward to hearing what you bring to myworld.

About the Dragon Bard

SeperateorNew.png

Salutations, fellow seeker of the arcane! You have entered the cyber sanctuary of the Dragon Bard. While the tapestry of life identifies me as Maxwell Alexander Drake, to my cherished allies and confidantes, I'm known simply as Drake. It would bring me great honor to include you as one of them.

Across two decades of toil and artistry, I've garnered acclaim weaving narratives for such industry titans as Sony's EverQuest Next and Catalyst Game Lab's Shadowrun. And now my sagas grace the hallowed grounds of the HârnWorld RPG realm. My journey has intertwined with legends in this industry, including the distinguished scribes Ed Greenwood, Michael A. Stackpole, Timothy Zahn, Aaron Allston, and other fine weavers of the written word. I've also had the honor of collaborating with illustrious visual artisans, among them Larry Elmore, Lars Grant-West, Jason Engle, Cyril Vander Haegen, and a myriad of other amazing illustrators.

Furthermore, I've been graced with the humbling opportunity to impart my wisdom on the art of creative writing to audiences spanning the globe. As examples; domestically, I proudly bear the singular honor of being the sole author invited to grace the halls of San Diego Comic Con for an unparalleled streak of 17 years starting in 2008. Internationally, etched in my heart is the indelible memory of being the solitary wordsmith bestowed with the privilege of being invited to the inaugural Saudi Arabia Comic Con in 2017.

My main goal for creating Starving Writer Studio is to build a direct connection between the creator's heart and the soul of those seeking fulfillment. In this new digital landscape we find ourselves in, why should there be a evil cartel between you and I? What purpose do these publishers, distributors, book stores now hold apart from enriching themselves at the expense of my sweat and toil that I do solely for your pleasure, my fine reader.
None, I say.

My hope is that you've ventured here, noble adventurer, lured by the treasures I've crafted. If this is true, then I beseech you, do not feed an industry that has lost its reverence for your heart’s desire! Instead, bestow your endorsement upon the one who genuinely cares about fulfilling your entertainment needs. A humble scribe, who understands that my only reason for existence, is you.

Here, you'll discover everything you need to support my endeavors, enabling my pen to weave countless more mesmerizing tales. I invite you to peruse the offerings in my Scriptorium. I assure you, the couriers I employ are as reliable as those that are dispatched from the kingdom of Amazon. And weep not for King Bezos. His coffers shan't run dry without my paltry contributions.

If you'd like to become a true hero of the arts, consider become my Patron. For less than the cost of a cup of elven morning brew, you can help incinerate writer’s block and fuel epic tales, all while gaining backstage access to all things Dragon Bard.

So continue forth into the heart of my domain, and if you are ever in need of my pen, you have but to ask.  — Drake
